If you received my newsletter today, you will have noticed an important change. We had 344 editions, of the modern era of Blogpocket, sending information expressly written to send to subscribers by email. However, today you have only received the links to the last five posts. And that is because, after a long period of reflection, I have come to the conclusion - and in line with the purposes that we set for ourselves at the end of 2023 - that the blog is - and should be - definitely my main means of communication. In reality, making your blog -nowadays- your corner on the internet is a movement that many people are doing. That is one of the fundamental reasons why the Blogpocket newsletter is now RSS (the latest blog posts and the latest podcast episodes).
The other is related to the crossroads that was resolved almost a year ago with Substack . However, Substack has also led - like X and so many others - to disappointment. As Ben Werdmuller states about Substack, “ That's why it was incredibly disappointing when it became clear that the platform was actively embracing and funding fans .” Ben Werdmuller writes a magnificent article ( The fediverse for media organizations ) in which he highlights the importance of the fediverse for the communication of companies Costa Rica Mobile Number List and people. He also points out its difference with RSS and newsletters. And, if you think about it carefully, the three mechanisms (RSS, newsletter and fediverso) currently make up an unbeatable triumvirate for configuring the distribution of what is published on a blog. Why do we need centralized social networks in which we are nothing more than a product and we do not have control of anything? If you make your blog your only means of publication, leaving everything else as a mere showcase and adopt a POSSE strategy ( Publish -on your- Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere ) you will essentially achieve the following: You let your followers continue using whatever to read your content.
You stay in touch with current friends now, rather than potentially staying in touch with friends in the future. By publishing directly to your own site, you don't depend on third-party services to do it. By publishing to your own site first , you create a direct chain of ownership that can be traced back to you without any third-party services. There are many more advantages, but - for me - the most important thing is that it makes me the owner of my own site, controlling it and exercising absolute power over what I publish, where, when and how I publish it. Right now, I don't see any advantage to using Facebook, Although with POSSE it can be done perfectly but always publishing first on your site or leaving social networks, including fediverso, to find interesting information and conversations.
