Cantabria Fuente Dé, Cantabria. By Noradoa We are at 1,823 meters high, in the heart of the Picos de Europa National Park . The Fuente Dé cable car has taken us up to its El Cable station. At this altitude and with such a panoramic view, it is easy to understand that taking a hiking route is not trivial. However, there are two easy routes through Fuente Dé that are suitable for all walkers (regardless of their physical level and experience in the mountains) and one more medium level that, although it requires some physical conditioning, is considerably easy to do. El Cable – Puertos de Áliva Route (PR-PNPE 24 complete) Fuente Dé, Picos de Europa . Fuente Dé, Picos de Europa. By Luis GA The PR-PNPE 24 route offers the possibility of descending on foot to Fuente Dé .
14.5 kilometers that are completed in about 5 and a half hours and that offers us several points of interest along the way such as the Hotel Refugio de Áliva, El Tesoro, the Fuente de los Asturianos or the Invernales de Igüedri. The latter is an area of important ethnographic value as it constituted the refuge of the shepherds who took their Cell Phone Number List cattle to graze through these lands years ago. Although they are currently quite abandoned, they still survive thanks to the production of the famous Áliva cheeses. Although it takes longer, it does not require great physical effort because, except for the small initial climb to the Horcadina de Covarrobles, the route is a continuous descent . This option is used by many visitors who only purchase the ticket to go up on the cable car and complete the descent on foot.
El Cable Route – Hotel Refugio de Áliva (First section of the PR-PNPE 24) The Royal chalet between the Picos de Europa. The Royal chalet between the Picos de Europa. By Ruben As an alternative to taking the complete PR-PNPE 24, there is the option of enjoying the protected space from above in a much more affordable format. This is the mountain walk that starts from El Cable and reaches the Hotel Refugio de Áliva, a two-star hotel perfect for unwinding that is usually open from May to October. This first section of the route is approximately 4 kilometers long and has hardly any unevenness, which makes it ideal to enjoy with the family. Among the attractions along the way we find the Royal Chalet, an English-style building - all the pieces were brought from England - built in 1912. It makes up, together with the massifs that protect it, a beautiful mountain postcard.
